| Show Jumping - Showjumping, Equitation, Equestrian Events, Dressage, Eventing, Gymkhanas & Horse Shows
Show Jumping is part of the events at the English Riding Equestrian show, or at any such show in the world. It is also referred to as “jumpers” or “stadium jumping”. Show Jumping is seen at the Olympics and at horse shows. There are jumping classes that are sanctioned by various organizations like the British Equestrian Federation.
Show Jumping classes are conducted over a track of show jumping barriers which include triple or double combinations, spreads and verticals, which often have several turns and a variation of directions. The aim is to jump without stumbling or touching the hurdles on the set course within a stipulated time. If the time limit is exceeded it is taken as a time fault. Faults for jumping are suffered for obvious disobediences and knockdowns. If the horse refuses to obey the commands over the permitted and limited number of times, it will be disqualified. The horse’s refusal to participate and obey could result in the rider exceeding the time allowed for the event.
Show Jumping placings are established on the least number of faults that have been earned. For ties in the placings there is normally a jump off over an elevated and reduced course and this would also be timed. The fastest time would succeed in such cases where entries are tied for blunders that have been accumulated in the jump-off. |
